Working as a Medical Animator
Where to Begin?
This week I was talking about being a generalist medical animator on LinkedIn
Cinema Animation Studios like Pixar work by departments
This means people specialize in one subject
Modelers, Animators, Shader Artists…
But Medical Animation has its own needs
Studios and productions are smaller
Generalists are always welcome
We need to cover every aspect of the production
Mastering many different skills
And deliver high-quality work on time
Managing all these areas can be challenging
Where to begin with?
Well…
Visuals are the first step into the client and company’s eyes
Learning how to create impactful static images is the key here
A great image with an easy animation works much better than the opposite
Start to collect references and create your own visual collection
Feed your eyes with good quality work daily
And try to copy at the beginning
We all start the same way
If want to get some help with it
I’m designing the first draft of the Medical Animation Introductory Course
My goal is to help you make the first steps into 3D software and digital animation
and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
What do you find most challenging or intriguing about medical animation?
Feel free to answer this email and introduce yourself if you want to have a direct chat with me and see if I can help ✨
